Arrival

Your adventure begins with a scenic 30-minute flight from Quito to Coca, the gateway to the Ecuadorian Amazon. Upon arrival, your naturalist guide will welcome you and accompany you on a short transfer to the Napo River dock.

From here, embark on an unforgettable three-hour motorized canoe journey along the majestic Napo River, the largest Ecuadorian tributary of the Amazon. As you travel deeper into the rainforest, you'll enjoy your first encounters with this extraordinary ecosystem, passing indigenous communities, small riverside farms, tropical fruit plantations, towering kapok and giant fig trees, and river islands at different stages of natural succession. Keep your binoculars ready, as herons, egrets, kingfishers, vultures, and many other bird species are frequently spotted along the way. A boxed lunch will be served during the journey.

The adventure continues with a short walk to Challwacocha Creek, where you'll board traditional paddle canoes to silently navigate through a pristine flooded forest. The calm, tea-colored blackwater channels provide one of the best opportunities to observe Amazonian wildlife. Along the way, you may be greeted by playful black-mantled tamarins and squirrel monkeys before arriving at the lodge.

Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed with a refreshing cocktail and light snacks, followed by a brief orientation about the lodge, its facilities, and the exciting activities planned for your stay. After settling into your comfortable cabin, you may choose to explore the surrounding rainforest trails or enjoy a peaceful canoe excursion on the nearby lake.

These first explorations offer excellent opportunities to encounter a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including several species of primates, colorful endemic birds, black caimans, and an impressive variety of Amazonian plants such as giant kapok trees, cedars, orchids, bromeliads, and towering palms.

In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by the lodge's chef, featuring a selection of Ecuadorian and international dishes, with carefully crafted options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets.

After dark, set out on a fascinating canoe excursion led by your naturalist and local guides in search of the elusive black caiman. The surrounding lake serves as an important refuge for this impressive and endangered reptile, whose largest individuals can reach up to 6 meters (20 feet) in length. Gliding silently across the water under the Amazon night sky is an unforgettable way to end your first day in the rainforest.

Day 2) Amazon Jungle

Day 2) Amazon Jungle image

Explore the Amazon Jungle

Begin the day with a peaceful paddle canoe ride across the lake as the Amazon awakens. Watch hundreds of parrots and macaws soar overhead while the prehistoric-looking Hoatzin (Stinky Turkey) quietly perches along the shoreline. As you glide through narrow blackwater channels surrounded by giant elephant-ear plants and freshwater mangroves, keep an eye out for howler, capuchin, and squirrel monkeys, along with kingfishers, herons, woodpeckers, and many other bird species.

A short forest walk leads to a spectacular 36-meter (118-foot) canopy tower built around a majestic centuries-old Kapok tree. From above the rainforest, enjoy one of the Amazon's finest wildlife-viewing experiences as macaws, toucans, parrots, tanagers, honeycreepers, and cotingas fly at eye level, while monkeys and sloths move through the treetops.

After descending, try your hand at piranha fishing before returning to the lodge for lunch. During the afternoon, relax at the lodge, watch wildlife from the panoramic dock, enjoy a refreshing drink overlooking the lagoon, or unwind in a hammock surrounded by nature.

Later, explore the pristine rainforest on a guided nature walk, discovering towering cedar and mahogany trees, orchids, bromeliads, medicinal plants, and the fascinating ecological relationships that sustain the Amazon.

After dinner, venture into the rainforest once more on a night walk. As darkness falls, the jungle comes alive with the sounds of frogs, insects, and bats. With a little luck, you may also encounter tarantulas, tree frogs, snakes, armadillos, or even nocturnal monkeys—an unforgettable way to experience the Amazon after sunset.

Day 3) Visit Kichwa Comm

Day 3) Visit Kichwa Comm image

Parrot Clay Lick, visit Kichwa Commune & Explore the amazon jungle

After breakfast, travel by motorized canoe along the Napo River to visit the famous Parrot Clay Lick in Yasuní National Park. Here, colorful parrots and parakeets gather to feed on mineral-rich clay, an essential part of their diet that helps neutralize natural toxins. Depending on the season, you may observe Mealy, Blue-headed, and Yellow-crowned Parrots, along with Dusky-headed and White-eyed Parakeets.

Continue with a guided walk through Yasuní National Park, widely recognized as one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Surrounded by towering ancient trees and medicinal plants, your guide will reveal the secrets of this extraordinary rainforest while searching for wildlife such as Golden-mantled Tamarins, Spider Monkeys, Scarlet Macaws, deer, peccaries, and, if you're especially fortunate, signs of elusive jaguars or pumas.

Later, visit the Sani Isla Community, where the women of the Sani Warmi Association will introduce you to the traditions of the Amazonian Kichwa culture and demonstrate the use of medicinal plants that have been passed down through generations. You'll also enjoy a hands-on cooking experience, preparing a traditional Amazonian lunch using fresh local ingredients.

Before returning to the lodge, browse a selection of handcrafted souvenirs made by local women from natural forest materials. Every purchase directly supports community education and sustainable livelihoods. End the day back at the lodge, relaxing with a drink while watching the spectacular Amazon sunset over the lagoon.
